Ninety-six young greyhounds competed in the first round of the Juvenile Stakes and there were some surprises. Some favorites like Topline Drive, Chipper and Allie Uhl got bumped or blocked and didn't win. Some favorites, however, did win.

Hilco Single, in tonight's 11th, was a winner in Round 1. Boc's John Luke, running tonight in Race 15, won impressively by 8 lengths!

L Tootie, who is in tonight's 8th race, won by an even bigger margin of 10 lengths in a total romp, according to the program, and I'd have to agree.

Other favorites that won in the first round are Frosted It, who is in the first race tonight. Gable Zeus, Race 4 tonight. And, in Race 7, DK's Flow Meter.

There are 12 stakes races in this round in races 1 through 8, 10, 11, 13 and 15.

This round will narrow the field down to 48 greyhounds, who will compete in the Quarter Finals on Wednesday June 12th.

The semi-finals with 24 runners will take place on Saturday June 15th and the Final is on Saturday June 22nd.
