Week 5 of the NFL season is fast approaching and it’s time to take home some cash monies in the QB Throwdown, RB Rushing Roulette and WR Downfield Threat. Each EasyScore Pick’em game focuses on one position and gives you three groupings from each position to choose from. So in the end you’ll have three players on your team, either QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs or even Kickers!

Here are my three teams for this week:

QB Throwdown

QB1: Peyton Manning: Well, last week Peyton Manning actually finished seventh in passing yards. He was beat out by such greats as Matt Schaub and Joe Flacco because they were in competitive games and didn’t sit out a whole quarter of play. But thankfully this week Manning gets the Dallas Cowboys, who just had Philip Rivers toss for 401 yards on them.  This should be a closer game in Big D than the Broncos/Eagles game, so Manning will need to throw, and that means Yardage.

QB2: Tony Romo: For much of the same reasoning as the Manning choice, I’m going with Tony Romo because he has yet to face a team with the offense of the Broncos and will need to throw the ball a ton to compete. Remember, it doesn’t matter if he throws interceptions or touchdowns, this game is based solely on yardage and I see this as being Romo’s highest total of the season.

QB3: Eli Manning: Manning has hit a pretty rough spot, but he did show signs of coming out of it last week against an extremely tough Kansas City defense in Arrowhead. Hakeem Nicks had some crucial drops, but Victor Cruz had a huge game and now they return to The Meadowlands where they’ve only played once this season. This week the Giants host the Eagles in what should be a high scoring affair and both offenses should be able to get back on track.

RB1: LeSean McCoy: The league leader in rushing yardage faces a team giving up over 100 yards rushing a game to running backs. That’s a recipe for yardage and this week McCoy doesn’t have to deal with the altitude of Mile High Stadium.

RB2: Frank Gore: Gore finally got the carries he deserved against the Rams and ran all over them for 153 yards. The Texans are no team to mess around with, but the 49ers have one of the best offensive lines in the league and will try again to establish the run than putting the game wholly on Colin Kaepernick’s back.

RB3: Maurice Jones-Drew: I’m giving old man Jones-Drew one more shot because he’s facing the terrible Rams run defense. The Rams are giving up 130.8 rushing yards to running backs per game and aren’t doing much on offense to keep the Jaguars from completely abandoning the run, which is what they will do a lot of since Blaine Gabbert is beyond terrible.

WR Downfield Threat
Calvin Johnson Daily Fantasy Football Pick Stud Wide Receiver

WR1:  Calvin Johnson: The Packers are giving up 223 yards and 1.67 touchdowns per game to wide receivers and Calvin Johnson is THE wide receiver. Green Bay will be able to score, which should keep Matthew Stafford throwing early and often to Megatron.

WR2: Victor Cruz: While the Giants have been on skid row Victor Cruz has been eating like a king. He leads all wide receivers in fantasy points and is third in yards and touchdowns. The Eagles have given up the most fantasy points to wide receivers this season, so that seems to work out for Cruz.

WR3: Josh Gordon: Buffalo is giving up the most yards per game to wide receivers with 234 and the second most fantasy points. The Browns don’t really have a running back to exploit the Bills weak rush defense, so they will do their normal throw it to Jordan Cameron and Josh Gordon as much as humanly possible routine.
