The 2015 AQHA Champions will be announced Wednesday, January 20

The Quarter Horse racing industry will have their version of the Eclipse Awards on Wednesday, January 20 when the 2015 AQHA Racing Champions will be announced. The presentations will take place at Heritage Place in Oklahoma City in a ceremony which will be webcast beginning at 6:00 pm (Central).

The awards will include top Quarter Horse champion in Mexico, Canada, 2-year-old, 3-year-old, aged stallion, filly and mare and distance horse. Honors will also be bestowed to champion breeder, owner, trainer and jockey for 2015. Of course, the biggest award is the announcement of AQHA world champion, based on votes from a national committee of Quarter Horse racing and breeding experts.

The notable world champion contenders from 2015 include S-Quarter K LLC’s Heza Dasha Fire, winner of 11 career races, who faced older horses for the first time in the Grade 1, $600,000 Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos, and beat them in convincing fashion. Moonist is another candidate, based on his stakes-winning record in 2015. The undefeated 2-year-old, Jess Good Candy, winner of the $3 million All American Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs; Tres Friends, who captured both the Rainbow Futurity (G1) and Texas Classic Futurity (G1) and BV Midnite Express, winner of the Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park and Sunland Juvenile Championship, will also be prominent in the voting.

Chris Kotulak, racing analyst for Remington Park, will emcee the ceremony and fans can watch it in its entirety on www.aqharacing.com in your web browser.
