If Bet on Sunshine Stakes favorite Limousine Liberal could run all his races at Churchill Downs, his record would probably be even better than it is.

The son of Successful Appeal has won four races from six starts at the Louisville track, including three this year: the Churchill Downs Stakes (G2), the Aristides Stakes (G3), and the Kelly’s Landing Overnight Stakes.

He’s since finished third in both the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) at Saratoga and the Stoll Keenan Ogden Phoenix Stakes (G3) at Keeneland, and he looks well placed in the Bet on Sunshine Stakes back at Churchill Downs.

Six horses oppose Limousine Liberal the seven-furlong test, most of which will need to improve to beat him.

One interesting option could be the former Argentine galloper Le Ken. A winner of five races from eight starts in South America, he’s run twice in the United States, finishing fifth in the Del Mar Mile Handicap (G2) and eighth in the Shadwell Turf Mile (G1), both mile races on turf. He could be one to watch moving back to seven furlongs on dirt.

Another potential contender is Uncontested. He was on the Kentucky Derby trail earlier this year, winning the Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park, but didn’t stay in the other Oaklawn Derby preps. He finished third in the Pat Day Mile (G3) at Churchill Downs in May, won an allowance at Churchill Downs in September, and finished sixth in the Phoenix Stakes behind Limousine Liberal.

The Truth Or Else has finished behind Limousine Liberal in all three of his Churchill Downs stakes wins this year, but he performed well in each of them and should be worth considering for multiples.

Pennsylvania-bred Storm Advisory won the King Cotton Stakes at Oaklawn Park earlier this year, but hasn’t been able to win since.

The form all points to Limousine Liberal. Even though he has to concede weight all around, he should be very hard to topple and is a potential anchor in exotic bets.
