One week before the Belmont Stakes thoroughbred and standardbred racing fans had plenty to applaud on Saturday evening.

At Penn National, Catch A Glimpse extended her win streak to seven straight when she led throughout to capture the Grade III, $500,000 Penn Mile against male rivals. Catch A Glimpse is among the sport's budding stars and her wire-to-wire score against the boys helped elevate her status immediately.

That same evening at Mohawk Raceway in Canada, Freaky Feet Pete rebounded from a third-place finish in the Battle of Lake Erie to capture a $100,000 Graduate Series leg in wire-to-wire fashion in 1:49.1 over a good track.

Meanwhile, at The Meadowlands in New Jersey, Mel Mara (Corey Callahan) led throughout and easily rebuffed a first over bid from Always B Miki in 1:47 in the Open Handicap.

Several races earlier on the card, Southwind Frank (Yannick Gingras) led throughout to capture a $100,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final for three-year-old trotting colts. Southwind Frank was last year's champion two-year-old colt trotter and the future book favorite for the Grade I, $1 million Hambletonian at the Big M in August.
