Palm Beach Saturday Matinee Preview 12-13-2014
"The Queen Of Palm Beach"Welcome to Superstar Saturday! Not only do we have the quarterfinals of the Dick Andrews Futurity this afternoon, but JS SpeedyPebbles will be going for 5 straight wins in the 2nd Race. Amazing card to watch and play all afternoon long.
Here are the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 2 Grade A 545 Yards
The darling of the Palm Beach Kennel Club #4 JS SpeedyPebbles from owner Shannon Henry gets an early start this afternoon, running the earliest she has in a card since October 2013. Pebbles has just ran outstanding in her return to racing, reeling off 4 straight and looking just as dominant as she was last season. Can you imagine the hype this popular greyhound would get if she keeps this win streak going?
Tough matchup today, mainly from right next door in #3 Dewzee from the Royal Racing Team. Has been in the Quinela in 9 straight and could pose a serious threat to Pebbles’ win streak. Has a nice combo of great rush and solid close.
Can’t pick against the “Queen” here. Pebbles gets career win #43 as she continues to garner attention.
Race 12 Grade SA 545 Yards (Puppy Stakes QuaterFinal)
Probably the most competitive QuarterFinal of the day.
My pick all along has been #5 AMF Pushover from B & B Racing. The best closer at the club, has looked good so far in qualifying with a win and a place showing. Is one of the only greyhounds this season to beat National Champion hopeful Storm Control. Pushover however will face a plethora of contenders in the draw this afternoon.
#2 JS TooHotToHandle from the Koppe, Staats & Colllins team has been a pleasant surprise for her Kennel so far in the tournament. Two impressive races that include a win and a place with sub 30 second times in each. Watch out also for Track Announcer “FasTrak” Dale’s top pick to win the whole tournament #3 Loop A from the Douglas Kennel who has hit the board in 7 of his first 8 starts to start his career.
Pushover I believe gets in a nice position early and flies to the winner’s circle today.
Race 15 Grade SA 545 Yards (Puppy Stakes QuarterFinals)
The most impressive greyhound in this whole Tournament has to be #3 Jj’s Tango from top Kennel Rader Racing. Two blistering W’s in a row has fans thinking this could be the next Rader superstar pup and why not? 8 wins in 11 starts (73%) to start a career is outstanding and will be looking for 5 straight this afternoon. Lethal close this young pup has on him.
Any shot for an upset could come from #5 Pat C Shortcut from owner Patrick Collins, who surprised many at 11-1 odds last time out by getting the 29.61 secs victory.
Tango just looks too strong and should cruise into the semi-finals in the finale here.
Top Pick Race 15 - #3 Jj’s Tango
