Del Mar 5 | 7:07 pm ET Str Alw for 3yo&up F&M going 1 mi (T)

Race five is an important race on Thursday at Del Mar, it ends the pick-5 and is the second leg of the pick-6, which has a carryover of just over $67,000. It looks like there is an abundance of speed in the field and while COCONUT CREAM PIE has one win in 11 starts, she may be the one to bet on. The Good Journey filly promised more than delivered to begin her career, but those races may be good enough here. She finally broke her maiden last month at Santa Anita and will get a good trip from the inside post. CRAFTY REGAN makes his first start for trainer Peter Miller and that is always a dangerous handicapping angle. CRAFTY REGAN gets Martin Pedroza in the irons, a jockey riding very well at the current meet. FABLE is the classic “may have needed a start” horse last month when he split the field in a maiden special weight race. He is eligible here because he started for a $30,000 claiming price in his debut and even though he has yet to win in three starts, the connections may have picked an excellent spot. LAKOTA ROAD is the one to beat. She doesn’t; however, really show a desire to win and may be vulnerable as the favorite.
