Round 2 of the $20,000 bestbet Derby

Race 7 – This one should be another great effort from Omega Point. Coming into his own at bestbet, this greyhound is red hot and riding high on back to back wins. He has solid break and is not short at the end of the race. Posted up well, he will be a tough out tonight! Pushing the leader throughout should be the solid grade a duo of Pat C Dashboard and Ww Great Wall. Both are Have good early speed and should be around the front for the duration. Despite the post, you can’t forget about Tempo Rock. Coming off a strong effort, he must break and clear again if he wants a chance to contend. (1-4-2-8)

Race 9 – Loving the new distance, and proving it in the first round, was Pj Just Cruisin. This greyhound has just recently moved to 660 yards and has not even blinked since. He has not missed the quiniela and that includes a pair of wins, one of which came in round 1 of the stakes. Her break is outstanding and it will be tough to run her down late again in this one. Prompting the pace throughout will be the solid grade A, Ww’s Epic, along with the journeywoman Gs Carina. Everyone better pay attention late to Aintgunnawasteie as this closer gets the 1 box and could upset them all if he is close enough early on tonight. (4-7-5-1)

Race 11 – Wide open race here as it is the only one in the second round that doesn’t showcase a first round winner. In fact, the closest you can get is a second-place finisher, so let’s go with him. Pat C Merlin might be new to 660 yards, but he has been performing well over the distance. Always around the lead, he should be close early on again tonight. Even though he might not start there, he will finish in front. Herstal is the big name missing from the top finishers so far in the rounds. She is much better than he lines show and could rebound with a big effort tonight. The post is right, let’s see if she can find her mojo in this effort. Others to consider in this race are the early speed stylings of Boc’s Sweetpeach and the always gaining threat that is Blutoocapncrunch. (8-2-7-4)

Race 13 – Now for the only stakes winner in 2016 in the field over this distance. Easi Ted was the winner of the Holiday 660 Stakes in December and has shown no signs of slowing down. He went back to sprints for a brief stint, but has no missed a beat since coming back to 660 yards. Currently he has won 3 races in a row over two distances. His first-round romp was very impressive, expect more of the same tonight. Trying to make the leader work early will be the early speeder Gs Carrie. Late she will be no match for the big dog, but she will make him be on his game at the start. Others to consider here are the steady chasing Ww’s Associate and the well posted newcomer C Ville Kree. (4-7-8-2)

Race 15 – Saving the best for last as we get a pair of winners, the pre-race favorite, and a couple of runner-up’s in round 1 of the stakes. All this talent on tap, it should prove to be the most highly contested event on the card. So, who’s on top? Not the winners, not the runner-up’s, the pre-race favorite. Lk’s Centuria is the best 660 greyhound at the racetrack. Sure, she missed her break in round 1 and got into trouble, but that is in the past. She is still the one to beat and gets a great inside post here in this trip around the oval. Expect her to hit the lid and be see ya bye gone in this race. Back on top, back with 19 points, and ready for the quarter-finals. Not letting her have it easy will be the pair of winners in round 1, Barts Risingstar and Gs Hal. Both greyhounds have what it takes to obviously win, and win big here, it just depends on if they can put up another strong effort. Risingstar is the closer that can break, and Gs Hal needs a quick start if he wants a chance to wire this field on the lead. Another greyhound to not forget about is Lee Trinity. This well posted threat lead the way to the wire in round 1, only to be caught by Risingstar at the finish. Out quickly again here, from a great post, expect for her to finish up in the money again at the wire tonight. (2-3-5-8)

The third round, the quarter-finals, of the bestbet Derby will run on Monday evening January 23rd at bestbet Jacksonville.
