THEATRE STAR could have been claimed for $40,000 back in November, but wasn't and the four-year-old War Front filly has become a star in the making. She has won four straight races and the last was with ease; don't be fooled by the margin of victory. This is; however, her first stakes and her trainer Tom Proctor has another filly, PREMIER STEPS, that look just as good and is 9-2 on the morning line. If PREMIER STEPS goes off near that price she is worth a bet. The Irish-bred filly is coming off a win back in early March and has run in five Group or Graded stakes races. She has yet to win one, but she was defeated by a neck in a Group 3 in France back in August 2012. The back class is there for her to win. The morning line favorite is PARRANDA, making her first start in Southern California for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer after running back east. She won the Grade 3 Suwannee River at Gulfstream Park in February in wire to wire fashion, but she does not have to be on the lead. RHAGORI is the late threat; not sure about the pace though. On paper, it appears it could be contested or will be extremely slow. No singles here for the pick-4 wager, it may be best to find the best contender at the longest odds and bet accordingly.
