Coronas First Diva drew off to win the 2016 Oklahoma Futurity at Remington Park

Despite a less than stellar break, Coronas First Diva rallied to win the 2016 Oklahoma Futurity, which was the historic 75th edition of American Quarter Horse racing’s oldest futurity. If you think a filly can win it this year, there are four very talented choices, including the fastest qualifier, Ima China Rush. The filly, sired by by Rushago broke extremely well in her debut and made it look pretty easy. She has been installed as the 2-1 favorite and will be ridden by veteran jockey, Larry Payne.

Tres Of Elegants, is another filly to watch. She was the sixth-fastest qualifier and is trained by one of the most respected conditioners at Remington Park, Eddie Willis. She could avoid some traffic breaking from the far outside post under Jimmy Brooks.

Some of the top colts to consider are Pyc Fun N Fancy, a son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon, who set the second-fastest time in trials. Daniel Torres will ride the Oklahoma-bred from post position five. Lions Express lugged in badly after breaking but went on to win by nearly a length in his trial. He was sired by Freighttrain B and if he runs a straight path under jockey Edwuin Lujan, he has a good shot in the final.

In addition to the $525,050 Oklahoma Futurity, which will run as race eight, the card includes the $251,000 Oklahoma Derby; the, $112,305 Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, the $50,000 Oklahoma Juvenile and $46,900 Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Derby.

Post time for Saturday’s 12-race program is 6:00pm (Central).  For more information on  live racing events and promotions, visit remingtonpark.com.
