While many standardbred enthusiasts have already focused their attention on this weekend's Breeders Crown finals at the Meadowlands on Friday and Saturday evenings that will go a long way toward determining divisional honors and horse of the year, numerous harness racing fans will look to pad their bankrolls slightly by looking to catch several overlays at Dover Downs on Wednesday.

As is typically the case throughout the year at the Delaware harness racing ovals, the Wednesday card at Dover highlights the trotters. Although most of the 15-race card is dedicated to that gait, a trio of races on the program could provide several value plays with two trotters seeking immediate redemption for last week's failures.

In the sixth race, a non-winners of $100,000 lifetime event for trotters, give Futuristic Bride (Jonathan Roberts) a chance to atone following a good, second-place effort in this class last week. Overlooked at 11-1 one week earlier, Futuristic Bride was used hard to gain command early, set honest fractions to the half and three-quarters then was overhauled late by favored Pounce Hanover (Victor Kirby) in 1:55.

Then two races later in the winners over class for older trotters, look for Baximum (Allan Davis) to make immediate amends following a gritty, second-place effort as the even-money choice at this level last week. Baximum, who is no stranger to the Open ranks here, angled out first over nearing the half and grinded his way to the front down the backside before being overhauled late by Dnieper (Tony Morgan), who benefited from the live cover the last half-mile.

Then two races later in the Open, give I Like My Boss (Roberts) one last chance to atone for a pair of failures as the favorite at this level here. Last week I Like My Boss raced second over and simply offered no kick in the lane and failed to hit the board for the first time in his career. Doubters will line up to play against the 'Boss' this evening, but that will only enable his price to drift upwards of 5-1 which would have been inconceivable one month earlier.
