When and Where to Watch the 2019 Kentucky Derby
By now, you’re probably aware that there’s a pretty big horse race coming up May 4 in Louisville, Kentucky.The must-see event is the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby (G1), a 1 1/4-mile race at Churchill Downs that pits the best 3-year-old Thoroughbreds in North America against each other in a battle for supremacy.
Want to tune in and watch what has long been billed as the greatest two minutes in sports? We’ve got you covered! From the post position draw to the big race itself, here are all the details on when and where to watch the 2019 Kentucky Derby:
Kentucky Derby Post Position DrawWho will draw the dreaded post position No. 1? Who will land in gate 17, the only post that hasn’t produced a Derby winner? On Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET, the much-anticipated post position draw will be streamed live on the Kentucky Derby Facebook page.
Kentucky OaksDon’t forget about the fillies! On Friday the best 3-year-old fillies in North America will head to the Churchill Downs starting gate for the Kentucky Oaks (G1). A massive 6 1/2-hour broadcast starting at noon ET on NBCSN will bring you all the action, including five other graded stakes races, led by the La Troienne (G1).
Kentucky Derby Undercard RacesThe Kentucky Derby isn’t the only noteworthy race on May 4 at Churchill Downs. The afternoon is stacked with six additional graded stakes races, including the Old Forester Turf Classic (G1), the Humana Distaff (G1) and the Churchill Downs Stakes (G1). The action will kick off at noon EDT on NBCSN and continue through 2:30 p.m.
Kentucky DerbyHere’s the broadcast you’ve been waiting for! The Kentucky Derby will be shown live on NBC from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET. Post time for the Derby is scheduled for approximately 6:50 p.m., so if you’re busy making bets and don’t want to miss the race, that’s the time to keep in mind. Can’t get to a TV?
