[Wednesday, Feb. 13]
Milwaukee Bucks -4 at Indiana Pacers
Milwaukee heads to Indiana not only relatively healthy, but also having torn it up in their last 10. The Bucks are 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games. Giannis Antetounkempo leads Milwaukee in points, rebounds, assists, and field goal percentage each game, but they aren’t just about The Greek Freak.
Khris Middleton, Malcolm Brogdon, and Eric Bledsoe can light it up on any given night while the bench is deep with Ersan Ilayasova, Sterling Brown, Tony Snell, and George Hill all averaging 15 to 20 minutes per.
Indiana has been hot in their last 6, but Milwaukee is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games. Both made significant acquistions at the deadline, but Milwaukee is playing like the best team in the conference with Indiana still treading on proving grounds. They’re the fifth best team in a conference that has four power players and I’m not sure Wes Matthews is the guy that tips the scale. The Bucks should take this SU and ATS.
NBA Free Picks: Bucks -4
Philadelphia 76ers -9.5 at New York Knicks
The Knicks are 9-17 ATS at home. They’re 1-5 ATS in their last 6 at home. Philadelphia only beat the Knicks by 3 in the last meeting, but the 76ers have looked unbeatable in their last couple of games before the Tuesday night battle against Boston.
Also, the 76ers are 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings while the Knicks are an awful 3-13 ATS in their last 16 home games. Unless the 76ers rest Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, Jimmy Butler, and Tobias Harris, they should easily cover. New York has been on a woeful losing streak that isn’t being buoyed by a high frequency of covers. Stay. Away.
NBA Free Picks: 76ers -9.5
Washington Wizards at Toronto Raptors -10.5
Out of the gate, this feels like too many points. Sure, John Wall’s out for the season, but you never know when the Raptors will rest Kawhi. Not only that, but it’s not as if Toronto has torn it up against the spread. The Raptors are 13-15 ATS at home, where they’ve historically been dominant. They’ve gone 3-2 ATS in their last 5, and are 0-9 ATS in their last 9 after scoring more than 125 in their previous.
However, despite the size of the spread, there’s reasons to prefer Toronto in this one. Washington is an awful 4-22 ATS in their last 26 on the road versus a team with a winning home record and are a terrible 8-21 ATS on the road. Toronto will cover and are finding their groove after some rough goings against the Knicks and Nets. Marc Gasol is finding his rhythm with this team, and offers a big difference maker on the block that Washington doesn’t have a counterpunch for.
NBA Free Picks: Raptors -10.5
Sacramento Kings at Denver Nuggets -7.5
(9:00 pm ET)
Denver broke a 3-game losing streak with a 103-87 victory over Miami. Both Michael Porter Jr. and Gary Harris are listed as out indefinitely, though. The loss of Harris hurts because he averages close to 15 points, 3 boards, and 3 assists per.
Then again, the only way to beat the Nuggets is to stop Nikola Jokic. He won’t win the NBA MVP, but Jokic is one of the best all-around players in the league. Jokic puts up a 20-10 and chips in an additional 7.7 assists per game. He also shoots .507 from the field.
But without Harris, it could be difficult for Denver to stop Buddy Hield. He torched the Nuggets for 29 points in the last meeting and while Denver is 20-8 ATS at home this season, they’re also 1-5 ATS in their last 6 playing on a day of rest, and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 on a Wednesday while the Kings are 5-1 ATS in their last 6. Sacramento is quickly becoming one of the most fun teams to bet on, and are still relatively under the radar.
NBA Free Picks: Kings +7.5
Golden State Warriors -3.0 at Portland Trail Blazers
Andre Iguodala should be out for Golden State while the Portland Trailblazers had no injuries to report on Tuesday. The Warriors will most likely offer favorite odds even if Iguodala stays on the bench. He’s an important part of the team, but he’s not a starter and the Warriors have plenty of other guys to turn to.
Portland should cover against the spread as slight home dogs. Golden State is an awful 1-4 ATS in their last 5, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 playing on 0 days of rest, and 8-18-1 ATS in their last 27 versus the Western Conference.
The Trailblazers are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 playing on 1 day of rest and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 at home versus a team with a winning percentage above .600. Golden State figures to be over played in this. Portland will cover the spread.
NBA Free Picks: Trailblazers +3.0
